Remon Keriakos
Mr Keriakos has over 25 years of experience as a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist, bringing a depth of clinical expertise to his practice. Mr Keriakos is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRCOG) – a senior professional distinction awarded to experienced consultants. He has spent 24 years as a consultant at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and works privately at Sheffield Thornbury Hospital. Mr Keriakos is known for his kindness and compassion. He takes time to listen carefully to his patients’ concerns to ensure his patients’ needs and wishes are respected at every part of the decision-making process.
He has a special interest in contraception, menopause, abnormal vaginal bleeding, abdominal and pelvic pain, vulval pain and vaginal discharge, prolapse, incontinence, premenstrual syndrome and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. He runs the outpatient ambulatory unit where he takes vulval and vaginal skin biopsies and excision of vulval and vaginal lumps. He also uses hysteroscopy to visualise the lining of the womb, take biopsies and insert intrauterine contraception. Mr Keriakos receives gynaecology referrals both regionally and nationally.
Mr Keriakos completed his speciality training in London and Greater Manchester. He gained advanced training in hysteroscopy and laparascopic surgery in France and at the Royal Free Hospital in London.
Mr Keriakos was part of the team in Sheffield who established the outpatient operative hysteroscopy service in 2022. Mr Keriakos authored three Sheffield Teaching Hospital obstetric guidelines, which have been referenced by the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
He has also served as Chairman of the British Society of Psychosomatic Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Andrology, reflecting his commitment to understanding both the physical and emotional aspects of women’s health. He has organised and chaired multiple workshops at the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists World Congress and professional development conferences, helping shape best practice in obstetrics and gynaecology worldwide.
Mr Keriakos has been heavily involved in training medical students, speciality trainees and consultants both nationally and internationally. He was an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Sheffield. He founded the international perineal trauma course to teach
trainees and consultants obstetric surgical skills. He has trained speciality trainees in hysteroscopy and ultrasound scanning. He has also prepared speciality trainees at the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in London to pass their final national exams where he was also an examiner.
